Hot Buttered Rum

Ingredients

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 1 tbsp butter (unsalted)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 oz hot water
  • Whipped cream and cinnamon stick for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Mix until well blended.
  2. In a heatproof mug, add the butter mixture and dark rum.
  3. Pour in the hot water and stir until the butter mixture is fully dissolved.
  4. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a cinnamon stick for a festive touch, if desired.

Notes

  1. For a creamier version, substitute some of the hot water with warm milk or heavy cream.
