Hawaiin Roll Sandwich
Hawaiian Roll Sandwiches are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that combines the soft, sweet flavor of Hawaiian rolls with your favorite fillings. Whether you’re making them for a party, picnic, or quick meal, these sandwiches can be customized to your taste with deli meats, cheese, and more.
Ingredients
- 12-pack Hawaiian sweet rolls (like King’s Hawaiian)
- 8 oz sliced deli meats (ham, turkey, roast beef, or your choice)
- 6 slices of cheese (Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or your favorite)
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp butter, melted (optional)
- 1 tsp poppy seeds (optional for garnish)
- Lettuce, tomato, and pickles (optional for extra toppings)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) if you plan to melt the cheese. Otherwise, skip this step.
- Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally through the middle, keeping the rolls attached as a whole sheet. Place the bottom half on a baking sheet or serving dish.
- Spread the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
- Layer the deli meats and cheese on top. Add lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired.
- Place the top half of the rolls back on to form a sandwich sheet.
- For melted sandwiches, brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are warm.
- Slice into individual sandwiches and serve immediately. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Storage Ideas
- Refrigerator: Store leftover sandwiches in an airtight container for up to 2 days. If you’ve added fresh toppings like lettuce or tomato, consider storing them separately to prevent fogginess.
- Make-Ahead: To prepare the sandwiches ahead of time, cover them tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Just before serving, pop them in the oven to warm up.
Can I use different types of bread?
Yes! If you don’t have Hawaiian rolls, slider buns or dinner rolls will work as a substitute, though you’ll miss the signature sweetness of Hawaiian rolls.
Can I serve these sandwiches cold?
Absolutely. These sandwiches are just as tasty served cold, making them perfect for picnics or packed lunches.
Can I freeze Hawaiian roll sandwiches?
While it’s possible to freeze them, the texture of the rolls may change slightly. If you plan to freeze, avoid adding fresh toppings like lettuce or tomato until after reheating.
What’s the best way to reheat them?
To reheat, simply place them in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 5-10 minutes, or until warmed through.
